01 Dodge Intrepid Siren Speaker install - HELP!
Looking to see if anyone has had luck installing a full size 100W speaker in this car. I have installed many using the Dynamax and other lo-profile speakers, but only have this speaker available for the install. Any help would be great.

If you can get behind the grille of the car the angled bell that they make for the full size speakers would allow you to put the speaker behind there. That way you can mount the speaker vertically and put the open area of the bell below your bumper.
You could get an angled bell at Gall's or sirennet.com

No Grill on the 01 Intrepid
The car has no grill. Just vents on the lower part of the bumper. There is space, but no good solid metal surface to mount it. Any other ideas?

Ok not to familiar with the newer body style Intrepids but the older style had a couple of solid cross members in front of the radiator that a speaker could be mounted too. It allowed enough room to mount the speaker and allowed room so it didn't bounce off the radiator and created a leak. It is a tight fit but it is possible. Unfortunately my friend no longer has his Intrepid but I know someone else who does that I might be able to take a look and see what possibilities there are.

Any help will be great. Tomorrow I will take the bumper off and take a stab at mounting the speaker. I think there is some space underneath the Battery Tray.
I also found some installation documents from Whelen
http://www.whelen.com/pdfs/install/13714.pdf and http://www.whelen.com/pdfs/install/13545.pdf
Please keep the info coming!
I will post some pictures if I get it mounted.

On the Intrepids if you take the driver's side front tire off and unscrew the plastic wheel well under the driver's side headlight area is where the car's horn is. You will have to remount the car's horn but there is plenty of room in that area. IF I REMEMBER RIGHT! It has been a few months since I did a Dodge Intrepid.
Forgot about that......the Dodge/Plymouth Stratus/Breeze has that option to reach the battery. They have the same thing on both sides. It allows access to mount things.....my bad

Here's the pics of the install
I removed the bumper which was pretty easy and mounted the speaker on the passenger side next to the battery.

I don't mean to be critical but.... I hope you plan on using more than 2 phillips head sheet metal screws and washers to hold that ? I would advise using 3/8 head sheet metal screws and a lock washer at the minimum 3 screws. The vibrations and weather will loosen them up in no time. I have fixed many a loose speaker or the few that have been drug under the car... Another Idea would be to use a " sugar scoop" style to project the sound out forward than off the ground. It would mount the same just change the deflector..

This speaker is actually bolted down 2 times on the side that you cant see. I just used the Self Tapping Screw to eliminate vibration. The way the joint comes together there, it is impossible to use a bolt, so I used a screw. Also, the sugar scoop cone will not work as the bumper wraps underneath. It would not work, but thanks. This is only for use as an Air Horn, so no Class 1 Certification is needed.
Thanks,
Ryan
