Motorola Spectrum to 6m

Post by batdude »

well, i tried.... trim 1/2" and tune, trim 1/2" and tune... my spectrum 6m whip got down to about 30 inches... at which point SWR went up to 5:1.

hmmmm.

does the spectrum not like tuning up on 6m?

i used 52.525 as my "cut freq"... and i'm using one of those whammo-dyne MFJ 259 SWR anal-izers.... that worked PERFECT on VHF for my VHF spectrum...

anyone using a spectrum on 6m? what's your whip length?

i use the heavy duty spring base mount ...

This might sound trival...
But were you running the MFJ-259 on batteries or an AC adapter?

Electronics can do weird things when they don't get enough power.

I had a 110 watt Mitrek on 52.525 with a Spetrum antenna mounted on the trunk lid behind the divers side on a 1993 Caprice. It tuned up properly but, if I remember correctly the whip was shorter than the VHF-HI antenna which was mounted on the other side of the trunk. I thought it was shorter than I expected.........I hope this helps!!!!! I will look at my antenna collection and if I find it I will measure the 6 meter Spectrum and post....
