This forum is dedicated to helping people with questions about installing radio equipment in vehicles. This can include antenna installs, electrical wiring questions/problems, and mounting systems. Pictures of installs are welcome.
Note: Discussions regarding lighting, sirens, and other equipment now has its own forum in the 'off-topic' section below.
Entry into engine compartment can easily be accomplished through a large grommet on the driver's side firewall, look for the large wiring harness on the driver's side of the brake booster. Then just tag your power wires to the red box with a 11/16" nut inside. Also the dome light is excellent place if you want to mount only one antenna, if not the headliner is not that hard to remove.
As for mounting, if you MUST screw into the transmission hump, make sure you use the shortest screw possible. There are 5 fuel lines that run right underneath the transmission hump.
Just take your time and everything should come out okay.
I just finished with my 97 Suburban which is fairly similar. Scroll down the next page or two and you will see the work in progress. I am going to update it soon. Do you have bucket seats or bench? PM is you would like.
