Men, I need your help !
Our department recently upgraded our communications center to a Motorola Centracom Elite system running 4 operator position off equipment in the CEB/radio room -
Since October 2002 our radio vendor has attempted to bring online some type base radio that would allow each position to transmit and recieve on some sort of Nextel type base; similar to an MCS200 from what I understand; Motorola & Nextel both point their fingers at each other and nobody knows how to supply this thing to us - -
1) Has anyone heard of such an item ? if so, what is it called?
2) Is there anyone that currenly has this online with their network ?
3) How / who can I find out more about this ?
Any info is greatly appreciated !
Scott

- What radios do you own?: Motorola, lots of them !
Your best bet would be to find one of those GTX looking radios that operate on Nextel frequencies - and have IDEN built in.
You could then talk to Nextel/Motorola and find out how to get it programmed so it works on whatever talkgroup you need. This should allow easy interfacing with a tone remote to go back to your centracom.
That might be your best best.
I've never seen/used one before, but I do know they go on ebay for about 20-50 bucks.
Look around - it might be the solution to your problem.

Yup - I'm thinking of the M100 though, since the 470 is built the same as a MCS2000 - I don't htink those are the most "tone friendly" radios.
I would say bring this info to nextel, maybe even aquire one and tell them you want to "activate" it and see what they say.
I really think it's your best chance...
