Can anyone tell me if the 4 the Position of the Standard Model Number System for VISAR radios, stands for the freg. bands, in this fashion: Q=403-437, R=438-482, S=470-520 ?
I have seen guys selling R models, and claiming the radio is 403-470.
Is this a messed about with radio, or can it do this band with no signal degradaion?
As you can see I am new these items and would like to know more.
Thanks All !!

Thanks guys, like I said I'm learning the ropes here.
Ok, but if the radio can do both bands , what's the point of having 2 splits? ( R and S).
Maybe it can do it but there is some trade off, like spurii or RX reduced sensitivity.
You guys can tell me if for the same model (VISAR) J=136-162, K=146-178 ??
Thanks again,
Vincent

OK, I am beginning to get the picture. One reason for my confusion was a:
"Standard Operating Procedure" paper I got off the Moto. site concerning Model numbers
after 3-19-92. Paper title is 20.40H.92
I wrongly assumed modern VISARS to fall under this paper. In it the bands are different.
One last Question for you ...
Does position 7 refer to the channel spacing:
4=12.5, 6=20/25, 8=12.5/25Khz, 9=variable/program.
Thanks guys,
Happy new year to yourselves and families,
Vincent.
