Is it possible for a base radio (like the radius, or maxtrac, or GM300, to decode a DTMF tone or more, then transmit a tone acknowledging the call arrived at the base and the base operator notified?

Are there any ways (regardless or whether it is DTMF or not) to do this? How would noe configure it?

This can be accomplished using MDC Signaling. Ususally, when you send a page to a radio, it will beep a couple of times, as well as the radio that is receiving the message will transmit an acknoledgment. I don't know if on the maxtrac if it gives any worthwile feedback that it was successfull. I believe it would show an A on the screen for acknoledged. On the spectra, it will say PLEASE WAIT wile paging, and then ID PAGED when it recieved an acknoedgement upon hearing the other radio acknoledge the page.

There isn't something built into QCII paging for acknoledgment, I'm sure you can find some DTMF standard that allows for this. I have no idea about GE Star either. MDC1200 is probably your best route to go.

Now with this said, I don't think there's an easy way to ensure that there is someone on the other end of the radio...

Hope that helps.

MDC signalling can sent a page, with acknowledgement by the receiving radio, using the Call Alert feature.

I don't know about the Maxtrac and GM series radios, but I know that all of the new Professional Series radios support the feature (Although I may ignite some debate my mentioning that series)

The only way to make sure that the operator got the message is to require the operator to manually send some sort of acknowledgement.
