We have a fleet of HT1250's here and some of them lose time. I've been told by Motorola that it was only one lot of radios and that they have a fix in the way. They have tried a couple of different fixes with us so far with little success, but they have it narrowed down and are supposed to have it fixed this spring.

I had a VHF HT1250 on my deptartment that would lose about 1/2 hour every 2 weeks. It had the high capacity battery and we changed it out with a new Lithium battery and the problem went away for about a month. Motorola said that it needed to be upgraded from a version 1.00.00 to a 3.01.00. That was last year and it still does not keep time. Maybe this will be the year for the right fix.
As for PL decode time, are you using MDC1200? and if so, there is a parameter called DOS Hold Off (I believe thats what its called, i'm not at the office right now to check). Anyway i think the default setting is 500ms. What is does is keep the radio muted for the set time after it recieves a valid signal so that the user does not have to hear the Pre-PTT MDC1200 data squawk. But if you are not using Pre-PTT ID, it just seems to take a long time for the reciever to open. I aways set it to the lowest time allowed as I used Post-PTT ID.
As for the Clock, its just another clock to keep on time (how many of you have the 12:00 flashing on your VCR right now!). I tell the customer about it, but in all cases so far they have asked me to defeat the clock so that it never shows on the screen.
