03 Suburban, FINALLY MAKING PROGRESS!

Post by apco25 »

I'm finally getting somwhere, whipless Maxrad MLPV antennas and low loss NMO mounts (fully shielded with SMA connector on the mount base) have arrived. Antennas will probably go in next week with the count being 8-10 of them.

The stock console with custom faceplate mod is getting started slowly. My machine shop contact has been out with a nasty flu so we haven't begun to fabricate it just yet. Troy faceplate rails and faceplates are on order and should be delivered next week.

Laptop mount got delivered today and was installed in less than an hour!

Gamber Johnson Notepad4 mount attached to:

DS108 base (neat, bolts into the seat studs between the seat pan and seat rails - nifty!)

DS-ARM (this is the multi-jointed articulated RAM mount arm COOL)

DS-9 POLE upper and lower

I took some pics with my Dell 8200 Inspiron sitting in there as a stand-in. This laptop is much too big to use in the truck (15inch screen). I'll be using a ruggedized IBM 380Z 13inch model which is a good deal smaller.

Install was a breeze, typical no holes drilled system. The RAM mount system is quite sturdy and very flexible compared to a standard swivel base. The pole mount is offset on the passenger side up against the console. I'll have to see how the front passenger likes it, but it takes almost no seat room and aboslutely no leg room from them unlike some setup.

Pics will be posted later... Camera batteries died and then I have to get Jaymz to host them.

Maxrads were ordered through a local dealer I've known for years.

FYI, the ruggedized 380Z is for sale.. not going to work out the way I need it to....

Pics are coming.
