I posted up about this topic a little while back, the general response was that "it can't be done" unless you were working with a centrcom unit, or similar base station - I know a buddy of mine who was succesful in messaging with his Pro 7150, encoding & decoding messages. I didn't get out of him whether or not he had it flashed or not, but I am going to my dealer to get it flashed this week. Apparently, you can flash these models w/ version 6.00.01. Anybody else have success, no success with new version? Any comments appreciated. Thanks

The whole concept with Stat/Mesg was for moblie to base. Mot was hoping that Public safety was going to be the big one. In the end, Taxi and related services ended up being the big user of it. I remember all the lit that Mot was putting out, and it was all geared towars PS. Later in the years, that disappeared and commerical services were the target.
That's why you never saw the decode on the mobiles and portables. It was designed as a mobile to base.

From the 1250 - How about from the CDM1550 Manual -
"RECEIVING A MESSAGE"
- You will hear two alert tones.
- The yellow LED indicator flashes.
- The LCD screen displays "Msg Received - alternating with the pre-programmed alias.
Apparently, the CDM1550 can recieve them, I just haven't figured it out yet.

Mike is right, the latest firmware version in the CDM1550 is supposed to support MDC status & message. Not surprising, since the radio already supports MDC emergency protocol. Makes for a relatively affordable fully featured base. Before this, your only option was to get a C200 advanced remote or something similar.
