Saber battery connector... is this weird?

I saw this picture and someone mentioned that it was an "unusual" connector. Is it? Will it work with a regular saber battery? Let me know ASAP, as I might buy it. THanks.

My systems saber only has one connector in the middle, and one in the corner (two in all) , so yes, i would say its a rare find. Any other comments on this one?

Early Sabers had four contacts on the radio and battery. I have a mixture of both.

I'd be more concerned about the cracked base plate.

Ya, well too late now. Tell EMS Geek about the cracked plate... his problem

It was on eBay and he got it for $50 Buy It Now! I was gonna buy it for parts. Im still gonna buy it from him if he doesnt want it, its a 403-430 which wasnt specified in the description on eBay

I have a saberII UHF, same as MT2000 man's!
Wonder about that cracked base plate?

My guess to the small crack on the base plate was that the previous owner probably dropped it, and therefor got cracked. Ever notice that in the operating instructions, it says "avoid physical abuse, do not pound, drop, or throw the radio unnecessarily." Kind of makes you want to laugh

Its an old radio, made prior 1989. Those radios have 2 additional terminals ("sense").
It is full compatible with newer 2 contact batterys. On old batterys you will also find 4 contacts.

The cracked base plate is usally due to the officer beating the suspect with his radio baecuse you can not hit the suspect with your gun or billy club.
Had to change a lot of them, and if they did not crack like this one, they bend and you wind up with a loose battery and static on transmit from poor contact.

Thank you for pointing out the damage, I had seen the crack but I was just going to use the radio for parts. This is just hobby stuff for me to have on hand.

That's not a big deal, spend a few bucks and bu a new base plate connector. As for the comments by the stay safe guy about it being a 403-433mhz, don't take his word for it unless the seller actually supplied that info. It's an H44, could be 403-433mhz,440-470, 458-490. read it before you decide to get rid of it.

LOL Mantooth, I take it I am the "Stay safe" guy?

ANyway, my bad about the bandsplit, I ran the model number through panik's website ( a GREAT resource for finding quick specs besides batlabs model breakdown, and it came back to a 403-433, I forgot that the model number doesnt specify the subsplit. Sorry about that! How much is a new baseplate like that?

The last one I picked up was about 5.00, but they don't come with the washers or nuts, you have to buy those in a different kit, M's way of making the most money they can I guess.

YES!!!!! It stinks! Now when I need 2 sabers, they jumped sky high! A saber 3 VHF or UHF is now going for almost $600! insane!
