Anyone know of an easy way to replace a cracked Saber 3 LCD? I took it apart and it seemed too complicated for someone like me to fix. I'm hoping that I won't need to visit motorola.

Alan, unless you have a high dollar surface mount work station it's not worth attempting.

Check ebay, from time to time I see parts lots that include the front sheild with lcd.
I have purchased many on Ebay and have been lucky, they all worked fine.

Hi:

Depending on if there is any PC Board
Damage, I have replaced 100's of them.

All I need is the front panel, and if
you are not able to find a complete
front, I can do complete repairs
on them for less than 75.00
if its a Standered Saber.

If you wish, you can email me direct
@ [email protected]

I even have the relacement Plastic
Windows for the case too !

As a note of interest: They
DO NOT
require
" Any " special soldering or desolsering tools. Just a simple RPX4703 Replacement Kit
and some labor.

However, due to the Compression Fit, it does
require some preperation of the PC Board, and
should be checked to insure its operating
properly....A impact strong enough to break
the LCD might have damaged the board.

There are some delicate pieces to an LCD display and Monty's right. Preparation of the PC board/LCD Assy is critical to have it work properly. Otherwise you will end up with missing segments(jibberish)on the new install. Those conductive flexible elastomer pieces are finicky to say the least.

And Monty has a new one I was not aware of. I never knew a clear replacement lense was available for the Saber. I have a Saber III that has a nasty scratch in the center. May have to think about changing it now.
