2004 Impala Install

This is a 9C3 impala, Police executive car.

The radio tray is a D&R electronics out of Canada mount, the radio console is the CC-1 from Jotto Desk and made for the Impala.

The wires in the car from the factory included 100 amps to the trunk, 65 amp to floorboard, 35 amps ignition to floorboard, siren speaker wires, grill light wires, headlight flasher control wires, all to the floorboard, read flasher and rear light control wires to the floorboard, horn and brake light circuit loops to the floorboard. SO I DID NOT HAVE TO RUN MANY WIRES, just 3 control lines for the Orions and the Astro Spectra. There are 2 NMO antenna's 1 UHF and 1 UHF/VHF dual banded. The Glass is an 800 and the am/fm is the Low Band made by ComProd out of Canada. The 2 Orion's are dual banded. Hear are some pictures during the install.

Stan, I see 4 GE radios in the trunk, but only 2 radio heads. How does that work, and what bands are they?

Jim,

IT's not wired yet, all splices are going to be butt & solder with shrink then everything will be loomed, wait for the final pictures. LOL

The radio's are MaCom, Ericsson, GE, Orions with 2 radios per head on a dual band cable. Very easy install.

Strangely enough, that AM/FM antenna really doesn't look out of place.

OK Stan, An 800mhz Spectra
then the Orions are VHF, UHF and Low band and then do you have an 800mhz EDACs radio too? Can you monitor both bands at the same time with the dual band setups?

35-50, 150-174, 440-470, 470-520 are what the Orion's are. The radio audio is summed into a single speaker per head and you would never know it was not 2 speakers when both radios are talking, so I have a total of 3 speakers. I have a 800 Jaguar that will be replacing the spectra and a Jaguar replacing the 470-520 Orion in the next few weeks.

Wires and control head are the same as the Orion and the cables are already installed, the Jaguars are full P-25 compliant with DES-OFP and AES, Aegis, Provioce and EDACS on the 800MhZ radio.

The 35-50 Orion will be relaced with a Jaguar in the next 6 months as soon as the CHP starts switching to P-25.

Also all dual banded radios are capable of crossband operations directly through the control head, so they have built in extenders.

With all of those ORION and the Comprod antenna, looks like a Sureté du Québec car !!! i say that because i install them
