Hello all,
I just got a Syntor X 9000 VHF unit, and was going to install it, but decided I would query the vast knowledge of some of you first. Figured so many of you have done more installs than I have, that new and better ideas may surface. What I am currently working on is the remote head. I already have a switch box for my lights and siren (FedSig Vector, Corner Strobes w/ 60 watt pack, rear halogen flashers and a Whelen Alpha 12R driving a CPI 100W speaker) mounted to the passenger side of the console. I am not opposed to moving it, if it will make a better install of the control head. I've attached links to two pictures...the first one is a shot of the console with the shifter in 'park,' and the second in 'drive.'

If Chevy didn't put the shifter down there, my options would not be so limited. My biggest problem with the truck is the shifter down there. If it was on the column, it would be great. Losing the use of a cupholder or two is negligible. My current idea is placing the control head just forward of the shifter angled (at about 45* off centerline) towards the driver, covering the left side of the pen/pencil bin, and most of the left side cup holder. I also pondered trying to remove the little bin by the cigarette lighter and see if that could facilitate a good mount or not. Also thought about moving the light/siren controls to the driver's side so I could mount the control head there. That being said, any and all ideas would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Here is what I have so far...it's just temp-installed in case I do not like where it's at right now:

Any input is greatly appreciated.
On another note, my antenna is mounted to the metal cover on my Federal Signal lightbar, possibly any problems with this location? It's the highest point on the vehicle...and it's grounded via the lightbar ground cable.

2002 trailblazer
I have a question about the grounding system in the 2002 trailblazer.. I want to add wig-wag flashers in the high beams and was wondering, Is the headlight system postive or Negative grounded!!!?
Since you need to save space, try picking up a wildcard DEK and running the lights off that? It can be a small pain to wire depending on your application, however with the proper M mounts, it will install flush with the X9000 head and still look professional.
