Durango Advice

Post by Clamhattenmoagan »

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience installing a siren/speaker unit into a durango. I'm particularly interested in the location of mounting the speaker, and suggestions how to mount the control unit interiorly.

Any advice, suggestions, or insight would be greatly appreciated.

(Details: Its a 2001 Durango, and I have a Code3 3672 siren unit. I don't currently have a speaker, but I'm looking into a dynamax.)

I'll go ask around at Monticello Fire Department and see how they did it. They have a Durango dressed to the nines. I may even have a picture of it around somewhere. If memory serves correctly though they found a way to get the Dynamax or another slimline speaker behind the grille of it.

Not sure if it's the same company or not but Rob Ridley would know what the MFD Chief's truck looks like.

JAYMZ, a picture would be fabulous! CT and I had a hell of a time finding much of any place to drop a speaker into the front of that vehicle!

"Nothing but problems?"

Um.....there are MANY of these in service around here and they are just fine. Maybe it's just the drivers or the mechanics that are "repairing" them ???

The standard ts100 or many others fit in the passenger fenderwell. Cut the bottom splash shield for sound exit.

Better yet, mount a pushbumper and place the speaker out front.

I think im going to try to mount the speaker behind the grill in some fashion or other... If you have pics of that durango... that would be great. Now... Anyone have any insight on the interior mounting of the control unit? :)

Thanks.
