OK, no problem, just need to know if it is the big power supply or the small one made by Astron. Both have a rather low recharge rate so it takes a long time to recharge the battery.
The HPN9005 is the PS most used in the GR series and it is the "big one".
There is an adjustment for the float voltage when the battery is fully charged but the current is limited by the design.
Did you verify the float voltage?

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same gadget. HLN9136C is a small pcb (2"x3") mounted on aluminum heatsink. Yes, there is a pot (R70).
I replaced the battery (it is a 12V 35Ah) and after that I discovered that charging starts and stops in an unusual rate, leaving the batt not charged fully. (no matter R70 setting)
Anyway, I'd better built my own circuit, as I think $200 is too much for this gadget...

There are two 2.2 ohm 2 watt resistors that like to burn up when trying to charge a realy low battery. They are located near the fuse and relay. I had the same problem and also changed the regulator, U51, only a 1/2 amp to a 1.5 amp version and added a small heat sink. I changed the two 2.2 ohm resistors to 1.0 ohms each.
Just be sure to not set the float voltage too high or the gell cells go open.
