I have a GTX,the fleet we use is type1.However the system is IIi and would like to monitor another user on type II.I have programed in what I think is the correct TG,control chnls, sys ID but only RX a small portion of the traffic. What am I not doing?I have done many type I radios w/no problems.any help much appreciated.
Thanks,

As for system keys,it,s the same system that I have programed the type I radios on.
And as to the small portion,I think it's only one of the users that I've heard, not anyone else.I think the system is type IIi but it may be hybrid.I'm getting my info from using a pro92 trunking scanner on which I've RX'd my own radio as well as others with the correct ID (in dec.)and tried every fleet map possible and the user seems to be T-II.
I don't mean to ramble on so long, just want to give much info.Great Forum!thanks for the replies.

OK, let's start from the top. A Type IIi system IS hybrid. This gives a radio on the system 3 possibilities in the programming. Type I only, Type II only, or Type IIi. How are you programming the radio to monitor? If you are putting in the Type II talkgroup ID and cannot hear anybody, you probably need to set it up as Type IIi instead. Go to the personality screen & go to where it says "protocol type" and hit the up or down arrow to switch between Type II & Type IIi.On 2002-01-20 09:42, franko wrote:

You will then be able to enter in Type I parameters such as fleet, subfleet & size code. The radio itself will put out a Type II talkgroup when keyed, but the Hybrid controller correlates it to the proper Type I info. This way older Type I radios can communicate to newer Type II capable radios, allowing gradual replacement of the older radios. Hope this helps you out.

I had done exactly as you described, only in my rss it says personality type instead of protocal type.I don't think that matters though.I started by F9 - add trunk - and added a IIi trunk then went on to-F8- put in the control channels, sys ID,and failsoft freq.I then put in the TG,etc.Tonight I did all the same things except under a type II only. Still the same results!I'm guessing at the individual ID...700001.Don't know if that matters just to monitor only. Not sure about the failsoft freq or if it matters much,I used the same FS as in my type I trunk.Still only very small part of conversation RX'd.
