Everyone,
I am trying to get a DEK to function with a 900Mhz Spectra. I really only need the PA, AirHorn and Ext Radio functions. I will be removing the rest of the buttons. However, I am not sure if there is special settings I need in the radio's configuration. Nor am I sure where exactly to plug the DEK into the remote mounted control head. Also, I have been told it only works with certain model 900Mhz Spectras, can anyone confirm?

Well, I am not a spectra expert bu here goes. I beleive that any remote mount (two piece) spectra a dek can be interfaced to. It could be a programmable dek such as a system, group, or channel dek or a siren controller, or both. For the siren controls to work with a separate dek connected to a 4,5,7 series head you need 1. The siren dek 2. The siren control unit 3. The power/control cable for the siren amplifier 4. the dek to remote head link cable. You need to enable the siren/dek functions in the software under radio wide, and then under control head functions tell it that there is a dek connected and assign the buttons....
If you have a 9 series head you can utilize the siren numbers on the keypad for siren functions..

More info as requested and what I have attempted to figure out
1) Radio comes up in RSS as D37KGA5JB7EK
2) Remote mounted head wiht cable HKN4356B
According to Mike B's site I need an enhanced B7 head and I see in the RSS where it says control head, but I can not get to it to change it to enhanced. It is under Radio Wide and Other.
Apparently I also have to have an HLN6337 head, this I have to check and assume means I have to take the head apart and out of the vehicle to check? Where is this part #?
Am I getting anywhere? Still rubbing head in dirt here, trying to make sense of all the #'s. It also says something about I must have a certain interconnect board, I assume this is between the 2-DB25 plastic plate and the radio. Does anyone know what this has to be to work with the 9000 Siren/PA and DEK?

Okay, That is fine that it is a 900 radio...I have deks interfaced to the b4, b7 heads with no problem (on 800-UHF)....As far as the remote kit, I don't know the exact requirements of the interconnect board (the circuit board that connects between the radio and the control head) and the different remote kits. I know there are different models and I know that the 900 units had specifically different IC boards, but you need to ask further in the general questions area...Good Luck.
