Select V is a EUROPEAN standard and VERY rare in this country.
Same concept as modat - a data string is turned into an audible signal that is used for PTT-ID.
Its similar to a bunch of other formats called 5/6 tone, ZEVI and ZEVI5. all of these formats support PTT-ID and various paging methods
All of which, while sounding "cool" is quite and totally useless here.
Generally, you don't find any of these formats in a US market radio.
If you're going to used an ID format - pick MDC-1200 or GE-Star.
