Query About XTS3000 supposedly with XTS5000 firmware

Query About XTS3000 supposedly with XTS5000 firmware

Forgive me if this seems too stupid:-

Here in Oz, there are a large number of XTS3000's being sold currently that state they have been upgraded with XTS5000 firmware.

As I don't know much at all about this tier of radio, I am coming to the knowledge base of batboard.

Firstly, is that possible and what benefit would that offer if it is for real ?

Secondly, if it is possible, would you still be able to program it with standard Astro CPS

Well thats BS. Either the seller is a con artist or mis-informed. Do you have a link to where they are for sale? The hardware platforms are totally different except in appearance.

Take your pick, this guy is an idiot. When I queried him, he claimed that they are XTS3000s but everything software based internally is like the XTS5000. He has no idea what he has, he just bought a bunch of them off the South Australian Govt when they sold off their XTS3000s.

So based on this guys lack of knowledge, probably best to stay away :-)

After looking at the pictures this guy is just an idiot. The radios are packed in xts5k plastic clam-shells, that's probably how he got confused. I don't think he's being devious just stupid. If the price is right I wouldn't stay away from them.

His description says "upgraded with newer firmware" but the host/dsp is from about 8 years ago. While it's not ancient & will work fine, it's not newer, or recently upgraded. For the right price, the radio would be fine. GARY N4KVE
