HT1000 Model # Question

Post by KC9UVH »

I have a 16-channel HT1K having a model number ending in ...1BN. All 16 channels have been successfully programmed and are functional via the channel selector knob.

Based on my Batboard research on this topic, it would seem this is a 2-channel HT1K to which a 16-channel knob (no stop) has been added, since the controller is capable of 16 channels. Are there are no issues in the RSS with adding 14 channels -- is it simply a matter of upgrading the codeplug (which I assume must have been done with this radio)?

I've further learned that the only functional difference between my radio and a 16-ch model is that the 2-channel version lacks an RF switch on the RF board that would allow it to function with a P/S speaker mike with antenna and/or the Jedi Vehicular Adapter. Otherwise, I essentially now have a 16-channel radio. True?

Thanks.

Only physical difference is the RF switch that you mention other than the knob and escutcheon. To go from 2 to 16 requires hex editing or modification via 'M''s internally restricted s/w which has apparently been done at some point. After this it's esentially the same animal.
