Motorola R1801A question

Post by cahighwayman22 »

Got a R1801A with the MCX100 program, and some blank 82S129 proms (Signetic, and Phillips brand) that i'm trying to program, however when I go to "burn" a prom, the programmer says they are not blank, when I know they are as I tested them on a seperate prom/eeprom programmer. What could be the problem? I'm using the RTL-5818A adapter. It does Syntor PL proms just fine, but not the freq proms that I have.

That would be the problem.

The MCX100 program uses the RTL-5825A adapter.

Really, I thought the RTL-5818 is for the MCX, and Syntor (Freq, and PL) proms?

What radios do you own?: What's a radio?

The RTL5818A adapter was used for the old MMI proms. It was replaced with a "B" version (look on the insulator on the back of the adapter) and then by the RTL5825 when the type of prom used was changed. Also, the RTL5818A ONLY worked with the "A" version firmware which required the MMI proms which became NLA when MMI went out of business.
