Spectra UHF RF Board problems

Post by ldanna »

Helo Group,
I have 2 hi power spectra radios both have issues with the RF board. Radio 1 the transmit frequency is unstable , it will jump around while in transmit usuially maybe 1-2 khz. No other indication in fact I would not have seen it if for the fact I was looking at the unit on my IFR . Radio 2 exibits Fail 001 . I have swapped the RF Boards in both raios with a good radio (same range) and radios works fine . I am thinking the VCO modules are OK. Putting the suspect boards in the good radio and both symtoms show up on the good radio. Any common failures and cures the group has run across??

Thanks

Larry

The leaking capacitors have done their damage.

Yeah. Gotta agree. Inspect carefully. Look for for corroded feed throughs.
