Kenwood TK3180 Channel Changes on PTT

Post by SoCalRescue »

Hey guys,

I just got a Kenwood TK 3180. I programmed a bunch of PS channels to listen too and some home frequencies. When I transmit on a simplex channel it works just fine... but when I try to talk on a repeated channel it changes to my Zone 1 channel 1. Any ideas?

What radios do you own?: XTS2.5K-Q, ASpectra, MT2K

This isn't a model specific thing, but I would check that you're getting good power out of the antenna connector... Perhaps RF's getting back into the radio? I've had this happen before, albeit on a hammy radio, but... worth a shot.

In channel edit, uncheck "data" for those channels that do that.
Lots and lots of watts...

Sounds like it might have been programmed in trunking mode. My TK-380 did the exact same thing, and discovered that it was originally programmed in trunking mode...unfortunately had to reprogram the entire radio for scratch.

Hope this helps.
