XTS2500 screen going wacky on TX

Post by KC2NNS »

Hi everybody,

I have an XTS2500 (VHF) that is a couple years old. Sometimes when I transmit, the display screen goes wacky (every pixel lit, completely blank, vertical lines through the display, etc.). If I cycle power to the radio, it resets the screen. At this point I'm not sure if it's effecting the other fuctionality of the radio, but I imagine it must be. I suspect that there may be some type of problem with the shielding inside the radio. I haven't looked inside yet, but hopefully it's just an RF shield that came loose or something. Maybe somebody with more experience can shed some light on the issue? Thanks ahead of time!

I had this problem with my XTS5000, I replaced the display with a C04 display and it was fixed. Mine had a C02 display in it when I bought it and gave the same issue. I also had this problem with an aftermarket battery, the voltage would drop low on transmit.

Just my 2 cents
