Saber III - No Zone radio - CH Up/Down key??

Post by g8tzl2004 »

If you program a Saber III as a "No Zone" radio ie. channel entry via keypad, is it possible to scroll up and down the channels so that each channel is receiving as you go up or down?

On a "No Zone" radio, the top channel change knob is disabled. I think you change channels using the keypad. I think you can go via Menu - Channel - Select and each time you press Select the channel changes..but is the channel actually receiving...so you can use Select as an Up key...or does it only receive when you press Enter?

If you can only dial up one "receiving" channel at a time, it will take ages to check all channels!!...so I will just stick to using Zones!!

1) Go up channels. I haven't figured out how to go "down". You can also dial a channel in directly using the number pad, i.e.: 119.

2) Yes, the knob is useless. Yes, Menu -> Channel -> Select -> Select -> Select -> Select, etc. Not so bad on an HHCH SVA.

3) It does receive when it switches to a given channel. When you hit Enter it locks to that channel, or Select goes to the next one.

In fact, you can hold the monitor button down while stepping through channels and the radio will squelch out and mute when changing frequencies.

Remember, it's a commercial radio, not a scanner. Buy a scanner to scan. That being said, once the radio is in channel-mode, the scanlist can be programmed to scan any of the programmed modes. It takes time to program, and you may eventually wear out your select button.

I just tend to memorize the places where I want to start from; which repeaters are which.

Thanks.

Its a pity the * and # keys are not configured to act as up/down keys!!

Like you say, use Select to go up and then I just press 01 Select to go back to the 1st channel and carry on pressing Select!!

Key: Menu -> Select -> 0 -> 6 -> 4 -> Enter
Display: Channel -> Current Channel -> C --- -> C 0-- -> C 06- -> C 064 -> (switches to channel, displays * on right of display) -> Removes * from display.
