Okay, Now What do I do with my XTS 3000?

Post by bill44 »

Hello all,

I have almost 250 channels programmed in my UHF XTS 3000. Local police and fire, ham radio, EMA.
Scan lists done. I totally love my Moto radio, but I need a new challenge..where do I go from here? Is there anything else cool I can do with it? All opinions graciously accepted. I have 2 XTS 3000's II FYI.

Sounds as if you're ready for an XTS5000 or, even better, an APX7000. Aside from more channels, the
audio in an out of an APX is unbelievably good.

I was thinking more along the lines of buying a VHF Astro Spectra and crossbanding it (?) with a VRS or whatever its called and using my HT to link to the AS and having a mini-repeater in my house. Or maybe learning how page a Ht or send messages from one unit to another ? I think the only way you can do that is to have them trunked.

There is a guy on Youtube that sends these cool messages thru the airwaves, and he can see the ID number of the units on a desktop computer. Thats kind of cool. He can also send Emergency messages and alerts, but I have no idea how that is done.

Thanks,
