XTL5000 UHF FL - 1/90 Cant read via front or rear interface

Post by BIODTL1997 »

Switched out O5 head for a newer, cleaner head. Now I get FL - 1/90 and cant read/program via either interface, radio not recognized. Old O5 head doesn't even light up, new head does, but get the above error and goes into maint mode.

Any ideas? Was working fine before the head swap. Has not been configured on a trunk system, so could not have been inhibited.

Would love to hear any thoughts on this, I really need this radio to work again, and cant understand how this happened, and what I can do to bring it back to life!

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

(cables are both OK, they work with my 800MHz unit.)

Fail 01/90 is control head and transceiver not communicating with one another. Have you attempted a control head sync of the new control head through CPS?

yes, that another factor that is complicating this. When I do a synch, CPS thows out a "no synch file located for this radio version"

The firmware is 16.00.02 and CPS 16.01.00

It almost seems a if the brick is just not powering up whatsoever -- But I do hear a slight elec pop on some unrelated audio gear on the same power circuit, indicating that there is at least some transfer of electricity when the power cable is first attached.

totally frustrating

Where are you programming the radio from? Mic jack or 26 pin? Do you know if you checked "control head required for power up" in the codeplug? Your brick may have taken a dump. Is the CPS prompting you for the firmware version in the radio ??

I do not believe "control head required for power up" was checked, but since I cant read the radio, I cant confirm that. I've tried reading from the front jack, and the rear acc interface. Neither will get CPS to acknowledge. Both of these cables are ruled out, as they function fine with another 5000.

Nothing changed except switching out one O5 for another, programming-wise.

I would recommend using a power supply with an ammeter and confirming the radio is actually staying powered on when it has power applied.
