Micom HF Recommendations??

Post by com501 »

Thinking of buying a Micom and would like to know if anyone here has any thoughts?

Micom-2's look popular, but there are many and varied models. Any thoughts?

Software: I have Micom2 ver 3.0. Anyone know what the latest version was or if having an older version than what the radio was last programmed with is going to be a problem? Can that still be had from Mobat or Tadiran? Perhaps Motorola (I highly doubt the last one!)??

What about USB/LSB/AM/AME or other modes? Are there some that don't support LSB?

Thanks in advance.

Ver. 3.0 is current however it will not program the ALE that requires another software program but you can perform all programing from the radio control head without software. Elbit is now the current manufature and suports all or most models. Dave at Royal Communications in CA can help you with parts etc. he is a dealer for Mobat/Elbit. I would make sure to find a radio that has USB,LSB and AME,(AME is AM) most do however they could be ordred with only USB but I have not come across one yet.
