QuikCall on MotoTRBO 7550

Post by rescuer »

Greetings all,

I have recently been issued an XPR7550 radio and have found if quite versatile. One issue I found that is somewhat annoying however is the way in which the XPR receives Quik-Call tones from dispatch. You can hear the first part of the tone and then the volume cuts off, when dispatch starts talking everything is normal. When first placed into service, our dispatch was still operating in wideband, and I assumed that after they switched to narrowband everything would be back to normal. Dispatch has converted to narrowband and the situation is nearly the same.

The tones sound normal on our pagers as well as other portables (HT1000's). If I broadcast the same tones through our private repeater (from an HT1250) they sound normal. The Quik-Call tones in question are in the 500Hz through 700Hz range, although other tones break up as well.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

Thanks!

Check and see what your alert tone is set for with a QCII signal. Sounds like the radio may be set for no alert tone when recieving the QCII
