Best performing receiver new moto portable

Post by popcicle90 »

Hey All,

I have a customer that works in very remote areas working their repeater constantly on the fringe of coverage, so every dB counts. He has a plethora or radios and his new XPR6550 and PR400's suck compared to his Kenwood portables. Wondering, in your guy's experience, what's currently the best performing portable on the rx side that's currently being sold by moto.

Thanks,

Jesse

I can tell you that the APX sounds great & has a great RX on it, but is way overkill. As far as a true superior portable (RX wise) you absolutely can't beat the Tait TP 8100/9100 series portables. Far superior performance wise. Of course,, just my 2 cents.

From Motorola ? The APX7000, or the XTS5000.

Would it be a safe assumption that all the XTS radio's use the same RF circuitry?

I would say the APX. I was never really impressed with the XTS. Again, just my 2 cents
