Upgrading spectra9000 W5 to 05 head

Post by bfd1262 »

I currently have xtl5000's with the spectra 9000 W5/W4 remote heads. I am in the proccess of upgrading these to the Odyssey 05 remote heads. Is this something I can do or do I have to send them to a motorola shop? I do have the programming software and cables. Thanks

You need all the hardware and then you will probably need to do a firmware lift on them or at least sync the O5 control head.

The CPS does allow you to change control head types even though I had a Motorola employee (via a case I had in MOL) tell me that I must be using illegal software to change control head types, WRONG!!!

Depending on the fw of the radio's and fw of the heads, there can be problems, if you want someone to do it for you, I can, and can bump the fw of the radio/head, as well as align the radio.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
