XTL5K Squelch crash with scan problem

Post by myoung »

I have an XTL 5000 that I have programmed in a handful of frequencies that all have PL decode on.
On any given channel, not in scan mode, they all quiet correctly/as expected upon end of transmissions.
When in scan mode I near always get squelch crash instead of nice quieting upon loss of PL signal.
I am using priority scan, but don't think that should be an issue.
These are all strong local repeater signal from public service.
I don't have this problem with my APX7000 portable or XTS5000 portables.
I don't think I have had this problem with older mobiles, i.e. gm300.

Any help on what I need to set, etc will be appreciated by my ears and fellow car passengers.

Thanks
Mark

These bugs sound slightly related:

"Unwanted calls are heard when in conventional scan mode on a CSQ (carrier squelch) channel" in R6
"Noise burst in Vote Scan on XTL Mobiles" in R10
"XTS/XTL radios mute after Rx Selective Call with Unmute type set to OR" in R12

None are exactly as you describe but playing with the mute rule might be worth a start. What's the firmware release?

Thanks for the reply.
I am going to try different mute rules and give that a shot.
I am not using vote scan.

It is a VHF, R16.01.00

Thanks
