Does anyone have any experience creating network IDs within the CPS for XTS5000 radios? A coworker of mine said that he utilized TX network IDs in order to create multiple nets on one frequency. I think he was trying to set it up like a private line. According to the information function in the Motorola CPS, network IDs "allow the radio to selectively address one of several repeaters and key-up a specific repeater." However, "direct network IDs are used when not on a repeater," so maybe a direct ID is what my coworker utilized to create multiple nets on one freq.
Nevertheless, we are having trouble getting the handhelds to communicate with our Astro Spectra base stations, though they are utilizing the same IDs. Can network IDs be used like private lines?
TIA,
Ed

Yes, the NAC is pretty much just like a PL, except it's data and not a subaudible tone.
