MAXRAC 300 -- FIRMWARE EPROM UPGRADE

Post by 8F27E956 »

I have a MAXTRAC 300; its firmware version is 5.31 and supports 32 channel mod. I have sourced v5.34 firmware EPROM, which is the prescribed version for the 40 channel mod. My question is -- can I *just* swap the EPROMs (new for old), or are there "steps?" And by steps, I mean things that MUST be done BEFORE swapping to avoid a brick. I have the channel programming and if that just needs to be "put back," then I'm fine.

But things like the tuning crystal magic numbers and such ... do I need to go that whole route to get back to a working radio when I pull the OLD EPROM?

Thanks,
Will

The alignment/tuning information is stored in the eprom, and you will have to do a full alignment and calibration with the new eprom.

MAKE SURE that you go into the alignment and write down ALL the values before changing anything.

SAVE your original codeplug in a safe place....
