flash GP680 to GP380

Post by ct1fhw »

Hi everyone,

I got a GP680 radio, and I would like to convert it to GP380.
I have tried to do the flash by the book, but something goes wrong. The firmware version on the radio is r02.09.01 and the codeplug version is 09.00.
Do I need anything special, or do any trick to flash the radio????

Hi everyone,

I have bricked another radio ( stupid), but I have to try it.
I have read the tune settings and save it.
Then I wrote the GP380 codeplug into the radio and I receive a "no personality" error in stand off a "code plug error"
anyway I try to flash the radio with the new firmware, the boot code is uploaded, and a few sec. later I got an error " unexpected response from the radio" "erase flash rom failed"

Any suggestions are welcome, because now I have a excellent paper stepper!!!!

Hi everyone,

I had access to a gp680 but with firmware version R02.08.00 and codeplug version 08.00. In this equipment I have no trouble in convert it to GP380. So, if you want to convert your gp680, check the firmware version first. It seams the R02.09.01 is to recent, and have a kind of a electronic looker to to avoid the flash.

thanks to all for the support!!!!
