old motorola ap50 question

old motorola ap50 question

I have an old motorola ap50 portable. Its the vhf model. Is this capable of being modded to xmit outside the ham bands? I read about removing r417, but I dont see it. Thanks

There was a AP50 2 meter ham portable kinda like a SP50 GP68 SV52 mix with display and keypad. Don't know about any mods. but would be of limited use due to narrowbanding and type acceptance.

OK, never heard of that one.
Thot if it WAS the SP50 that I had a couple of answers.

All the info and board layout over at the Repeater Builder site GP6x hand held page
altho it doesn't mention the AP50 it seams to be the same series

It need to be done via programming to the radio.
