Jt1000 bad noise

Post by Jakegday »

Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone might know whats going on here. I have a JT1000 that makes a terrible background noise when transmitting. it recieves just fine. To rule out any microphone issue, i swapped the front face of the radio with my other JT1000, and that made no difference.
Here is a 30 second auido clip of what im talking about.

Is it UHF? Sounds very much like the infamous Jedi Microphonics issue. There are several threads on this board that describe/address this: http://batboard.batlabs.com/search.php? ... crophonics

Thanks for the replies. The shoulder speaker/mic make no difference. Yes, its a UHF. After clicking on your link, and seeing a new microphone kit could be the fix, i decided to swap that part with the one in my other jt1000, and it didnt make a difference

yep, you can try to add solder across the shields of the RF board, it was detailed here in a thread or two or three.
Common problem with all UHF Jedi radios made before 2001.

After doing some more reading, i found the process that describes what i think you're telling me to do. Only problem is, theres no pics, and im not famaliar with the parts they're talking about. I dont have an issue with soldering inside of this radio, im just not clear on what and where to solder.. Is there anything on this site that has pics of whats being talked about here??

In the very last post of this thread (linked below) it talks about what radios are affected, and the fix.. Im not sure my radio falls in the range of affected radios..
my model # is H01RDH9PA3AN and serial #355ABC0348 Z.

after a lot more reading, i figured out what you meant when you said to solder the shields of the RF board together. i did that, and it made no difference at all. Still makes the sound like wind blowing in the microphone when transmitting. Is there any one, or any place i could send this old of a radio to get diagnosed and repaired?
