BPR40 resets to default programming

Post by arlojanis »

I have seen two Mag One BPR40's reset to default programming while being used in the field. Have any others seen this? Was it caused by low voltage from a bad switch or battery?

Factory reset is a "feature" built into the firmware on the BPR40 according to the service manual. You press and hold both the PTT and lower programmable button then powerup the radio. A good key chirp tone signals completion of the reset. I've had it happen to a customer after his kids played with the radio.

A stuck bottom button along with an inadvertent PTT press at power on will cause this. What? You can't d/l the manual from MOL anymore?
