motorola gp340

Im in need of some help. I use a gp340 for work
All was fine untill i needed to add a second channel and i tried reading the radio. The radio came up as needing a password. The radios are that old that no one seems to know where the password was keept. I need the info to stay on the radio. Just to add a second channel to the radio. So cant over write it.

I do have a second gp340 which cam recieve fine
But cant transmit over a long distance
(Have to be in close prox to be heard)

Any help guys.
