mcs2000

Post by emt161658 »

I am relatively new to two way radios so please be patient. We had an ambulance that we took out of service. I decided to use the mcs2000 v3 radio for my personal vehicle. I thought this would be an easy project. unplug it, move it and plug it back in. I have everything moved and working except for the external speaker. I have the volume turned up to full and can barely hear any sound. The only difference in the 2 setups is in the old ambulance there was an accessory plug for the headsets which I did not move. Help please.

Sounds to me like the accessory plug had the shorting jumper in it to make the audio work, might want to consider moving that over.

I think D119 is onto something. Is your radio a remote mount (head separated from the main brick) or a local? Either way you will need the accessory plug (you are likely to just get the annoying emergency crod pop up otherwise) to make the right connections for your radio (emergency jumper/switch, ignition sense, speaker jumper/speaker etc).

In a remote mount radio the accessory plug if no ignition sense is plugged in just clips in underneath with no cables and the speaker then plugs into a socket on the umbilical near the head.
