Motorola RSS and Win98SE

I used to use Win95 as my OS and had some minor problems with Motorola RSS.

I have recently upgraded to Win98SE and I have found that quite afew of the programs are running but I am unable to read the radios.

Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone no how to fix.

If need be I will reload Win95

I can only assume you are not running the RSS through a DOS window, as that would be a real problem. Are you using the regular "re-boot in MS-DOS Mode" through the "Start" menu? If so, that's likely the root of your problems. Win95 gave problems, Win98 was even worse. This is a very poor DOS emulation, and it's no better if you choose the "Command prompt only" menu option if you press "F8" when booting up. Fortunately, the good people at MicroSoft, because of about a billion complaints from people who played DOS games, came up with a great fix. Look under your "C:Windows" directory for a shortcut called "MS-DOS Mode for Games with EMS and XMS Support". Double-clicking this will reboot your computer into a much better DOS emulation, one which I have found to work without fail on every RSS I've tried, which is just about all of them. It installs by default with Win98. Let me know how it works for you.

ok lets start with this depending on what radios u have u first have to be in true ms-dos mode. you have to by pass windows. Another thing to read or program some radios
you have to use a slow system like 386 or 486 system, using pentium machines will only lead to more problems. One more thing tey do sell programs that slow down pentium system, but where or who i don't know.

It may not be pretty but I actually found a 386 pc in ebay for $30 and run all my RSS there. Works like a charm. Consider it like buying a hex tool from // (about the same price)

I know what you mean, there's 386's/486's laptops & desktops at a bunch of flea-markets here! Ed
