GM300 error 58

Usually fixing an error 58 or 59 is relatively easy. First, is your radio powering up & working normally otherwise? If so, then simply go into the service alignment portion of the radio. You will probably find it will not allow you to perform a tx power alignment, and will give you some sort of error. Go into the board replacement procedures, and tell it you have installed a new PA module. It will show you a screen with all the current power values at many different frequencies. Just simply do a save, since these values are correct for your PA, and then back out of the service alignment. You should now be able to perform a tx power alignment, and also read/write to the radio. I have done this many times & it always seems to work for me. If the radio is powering up abnormally, with a long beep or set of beeps indicating some sort of failure, then you likely have other issues (corrupted codeplug, etc). Let us know how it goes.

Hi
As Todd has indicated, if you can ever read / write
to the radio again, you may be ok.
However, if you get Long Beeps, a series of
short beeps, or no beeps at all, you more than
likely have a major code plug problem requiring
a little higher level of service.
If you are not able to get it restored, email
me @ [email protected] as I have a special
Test Jig I have made to fix the Check-Sum Error
so you can reprogram the radio again.
I have fixed many a GM300 ( but it has to be
restored to the Factory Spec Level )
Also, be forwared, there is a Major Difference
between 8 ch GM300's and 16 channel ones !
When trying to make the radio due something
where there is not enough memory, you will
get the atypical error 58
Also, Blanking GM300's and trying to reinitilize
them does not work with Labtools !! Save your
time and monies.

Thank.

First of all, use a DOS 6.22 boot disk for your programming. You can find one here:biktor wrote:thank for your answer, the radio work ok, i have done this, i have gone to the "service" and i have see all the menu, the radio and the software work and they haven´t a problem, but when i go into the "read radio" menu, she show me error 58 and in two times error 21 (a new error!!).

Ok, so it does let you into the service alignment screens. Did you try & align anything? If so, did you get any errors? I don't remember the exact error, something like the software cannot find the proper tables. If you've done exactly what I suggested, it should work for you. But remember, you have to go into the board replacement & save the values on the PA alignment screen, then back out all the way with the F10 key. You should then be able to read the radio under the regular programming.
If it still doesn't work for you, it will probably need to be blanked & reinitialized. It can be done with Labtools, but you need to bit bang it to get it to accept a GM300 codeplug (not simple). Or, you can turn it into a Maxtrac (simpler, but sometimes not desireable).
