Some guy on ebay is selling a Radius Gp1200, is this the same as a MT2000? Maybe an export version? Will MTSX RSS program it?

MTSX will NOT program this. This is a European radio that does MPT1327 or CENELEC trunking. It is a nice radio, but make sure you can get yourself the proper software BEFORE you purchase it...and make sure that the bandsplit is proper ( think I have seen some of them do like 380Mhz to 433MHz which is the European PMR frequency split, you dont want this) But if you can get the software, and want to use it in conventional mode...its like having an MT2000 A7
I tried to learn the game but the only thing i found incredible, was everything I tried to learn I already knew.

It seems that the Latin American Export Radios (like the PRO7150,5150,9150..5150 5150 elite(ex500) and their mobile counterparts) will do MDC1200 and QCII...but the Euro Versions use 5 tone signalling for selective call and group call, Most Euro radios will not even do DPL(such as GP300 5 tone) you can usually tell a Euro radio by where it is made...Almost always says "EC" or as I learned it in social studies "European Community". I had delt with a large # of GP340's and GP300 5 tones and GP1200's from a large international cruise company out of France that happened to have moved their purchasing headquarters to Ft. Lauderdale. They Purchased everything originally out of europe, and they were docked out of Miami/Ft. Lauderdale...so when the purchasing dept. started using me for sales/service because they were no longer in france...i knew had had a little bit of learning to do...Lucky radios are my life, so I knew exactly what I was dealing with. Especially on the phone with motorola to order some Newer GP series CPS software, as courteous and efficent as they are, they really didn't know what I was talking about. Service can be had for these radios no problem. If you do decide to buy the GP1200 I can provide you with a name of a very large radio export company who we have contracted through to send all of our export customers stuff to Motorola the "Right way" which is through a company Motorola knows makes them a ton of money off of it. Just know what you are getting into...the gp1200 is a good radio if it fits your needs.
PS. The Visar's and HT1000's sold from europe do have MDC1200 because they were based on an internationl platform and sold in all markets the same.

The GP1200 in the UHf band covers 403-470MHz. It does not do DPL, only CTCSS. The radio also only has 10 channels or modes.
Very nice radio, but not very useful for US commercial use. (Though, I don't know very many US amateur repeaters that need DPL).
If DPL is not an issue, and you can locate a copy of the RSS..it is a good deal.
