I have a VRM600 which is basically a Spectra with a data port on the front instead of a display. The primary use is for mobile data computers. I'm looking for someone who has spent any time working with one of these. I have a couple of ideas of what I'd like to do with it, but was wondering if anyone else has had some experiance with them. This particular one is 800 conventional, however I stuck an 800 trunked file into it and it was able to receive trunking, although the model number says it's strictly conventional.
Does anyone know how an MDC system differentiates between units, the original program had MDC calling enabled, is that way it assigns calls or is it the software in the terminal? If someone turned off the MDC signalling in the VRM for say CSQ operation, would EVERY message come through to the terminal? I've tried this and with a dummy terminal seem to receive a whole lot of hex information.
Does anyone out there have any more information they'd like to share on these?
Thanks,
