Ever since I achieved the ability to program my GP350 and 300s myself, I have always had one stubborn problem that has prevented me from being able to use my radio to the fullest. This is setting the squelch at a low level, and turning up the mic gain to its max. The only problem is, these setting don't stick. If you go back into the mic gain setting screen, it says 0...so, I change it to +6, hit f10, then go back in there and see that the setting is back to 0. The squelch setting stays, however when you go to program it the next time it goes back to its default of 8. How can I keep the squelch set low (at 1) and keep the mic gain high (+6) and have it stick on these darn radios? (Things stay the same using older gp300 software).

Squelch, mic gain problems on GP300/350

There is "quirke" in the RSS.!!!
In the service screen, make sure you "step" thru all the settings in the "Volume Level" section where the mic gain, PL deviation, ect; is set. Squelch settings are affected also. Another way the RSS accually SETS the radio is to key the transmitter from the RSS with the F6 key == make dammed sure you have the proper antenna adaptor and a good 50 ohm dummy load on the radio or the RSS and computer will surely lock up..
This is why most "Dealers" do NOT set the radios up properly!!!!!!! They just "JAMM" the frequencies in without any regaurd for the other settings that make the radio work properly.

When you are in the service screen for all RSS, you need to "write" the tuning value to the codeplug by pressing F8. F8 needs to be pressed for each value you wish to change. On screens with multiple values such as high/low power settings on wideband radios, there can be 20 values that can be adjusted, and for each change F8 needs to be pressed. If you change something, tab to the next value and then press F8, only the field you are currently on will be written, all other values whether you typed a different value or not stay the same.
