tahoe power routing
What is the best way to get high current power from the engine compartment to the drivers compartment in a 1997 tahoe 4dr.

What I did with this vehicle is remove the coolant tank in the engine compartment. Then you can see a large area on the firewall that can easily be drilled. Drill a hole from the inside out making sure not to drill through anything important. Make sure to use a grommet. I suggest going directly to the battery by using a longer battery bolt or one that allows you to add accessories.
Good luck!

On pre 95 tahoe/blazers I have been able to get through behind the overfill tank as you mentioned, but on post 95 vehicles the computer and airbag take up a lot of that space in the engine compartment and behind the dash.
Anyplace on the driver side to come in? Since I am comming from the AUX battery that would be easier and a shorter run.

For now I tapped into the AUX A and AUX B power off the fuse block under the hood in my 97 burb. The reason why I did that was that I did not want to tap into the battery as I am going to install a second battery in the truck in the OEM tray and then route the power to that. I currently have all my equipment running off the two terminals and have not had a problem. I don't think that all burbs and tahoes have the aux terminals though.
There was already a hole drilled next to the steering column on the drivers side. WIth that there, you can route power everywhere easily.
