2003 Tahoe questions

Post by Code3Response »

Has anyone done a 2003 Tahoe/Yukon, Suburban/Yukon XL, Sierra/Silverado? Got mine and need pictures, ideas, etc. I have dropped the headliner no problem so antennas will be easy. Unfortuneately, I have the barn doors so I will be splitting my LED arrowstick in half with 2 4 LED head sections. Also know I will do 4 strobes to the rear (turn signals and reverse lights). Not sure what to do with teh front yet, problably some sort of amber grill lights and hideaways somewhere. Not sure about console either - the Tahoe has the middle seat/console combo and am not sure if I want to pull it out and put a 30" console in, or leave it and wedge something up in front of it (like 10 inch or so). Two different pacakges for equipment depending on how I do it. What are your thoughts on it with expereinces? Pics would be awesome if you have any, or any of the 00, 01, 02, 03 pics (newer body style). Thanks!

Doing a 03 suburban here so I'm in the same boat as you so to speak. The factory console should come out easy. I put a request out for the MC line from Troy products in the 22inch version otherwise its a 30inch stewart. However, I think the troy will match the dash contour in the Tahoe/Suburban better since it has a tall sloped portion in front instead of being completely flat.

For the reverse lights, if the amount of room is similar to the last bodystyle (97-01?) brake light cluster, you might end up melting something due to space restrictions. I don't remember if the 2002-2003 reverse lights were bigger or the same as mine, but whelen said running the strobes in such a tight space will melt the stuff. The rest of the assembly is fair game though.

I have done several with hideaway strobes in all the brake, turn, and backup light sections in the rear, as well as in the highbeams, low beams, turn signals, mirrors, and grill in front. ONe truck I used 4 90watt 6 outlet strobe packs!!!

I have put hideaway's in the rear tail and backup lights in a 2002 Sierra and the work great. I needed to put the tails down further in the housing, mor twards the bottom curve because of the latch pin mount for the tailgate sticking too for in to the well for the light assembly. You shouldn't have that problem in the Tahoe or Burb.
