MTX LS programming problem.... HELP!!

What radios do you own?: Too many..

I have an MTX LS and am trying to program the radio using MTX8000 software. I have the proper radio cable and RIB. When I try and read the code plug, I get an error warning: COMMUNICATION WITH RADIO FAILED >TIMEOUT ERROR<?? Anyone know what that is? Is it the software I am using or the radio? This software does work on my MTX800.

And if it is my software, does anyone know the correct software to use for this model??
