Does anyone know why NYPD does not use MDC anymore, seems that they would have things more orderly if they still did.
That is...If they ever used it, I seem to recall a few years ago that MDC was in use. I might be wrong, so if I am sorry.
ALso, anyone have info as to what fqs are simu, and other stuff like, new fqs, usage plan, etc...
there is alot of info out there on the scanner fqs lists, but most are wrong either all or partially.
thanks

the nypd does not use mdc for a couple of reasons
#1 being logistics, every dept radio has a # everytime a sector or unit turns out the would have to key the radio and let the dispatcher know what unit it was, for a sector that has to be done twice. it is too time consuming and as of right know they have no cad system to track the id's.
#2 its a real annoying pain in the but and takes up to much time for pre mdc. the preamble would have to be set to the max time because of all the voting and microwave hops. so in prohibitive.
as far as the vertex radio's go they are mostly used by the warrant units. i have been told they will never be used for patrol units. the warrant units do not like them.
