Antenna of choice ??

Post by KE3UC »

I've been using Maxrad and Larsen antennas for sometime now, both with favorable results. I've noticed that Antenex is mentioned often here on the Batboards. I have been to the Antenex website and their product looks comparable to the two mentioned above.
Just wondering what is your favorite brand ? Why ?

I have always had excellent luck with Comtelco 1/4 wave antenna from VHF-Lo to 800. My old pd went with 1/4 wave vhf and uhf and 800 antennas and they worked pretty well over the 5/8 wave antenna's in a large (50 sq mile) area.

I have used Comtelco.. Larsen and Antenna Specialists. They all perform well. I am currently running all 3 manufacturers on my car for various antennas. Larsen 1/4 wave VHF, Comtelco Low Band, and AS for Cellular.

Overall my favorite is Larsen though. That's my antenna(weapon) of choice. (Cue Christopher Walken dancing to "Weapon of Choice")
